POEM: I Will Tell You Who I Am by Afia Nicholas (30th August 2024.)

I Will Tell You Who I am:

The other day, you looked in the mirror and I knew you felt me simmering gently within you.

I suspected you couldn't quite categorise me, quantify my impact or codify me as you gazed at your reflection questioningly but I will tell you who I am.

I am the growth you don't fully understand but detect anyway.

You may perceive me as being shrouded in ambiguity, translucence, or even extreme opacity.

I may not fully make sense now, but I will at the right time.

I lie dormant, either bursting through as a sparkling celebration one day without warning or I can be released slowly over time unassumingly, until one day you face the mirror again and realise who and what I am and who I have always been for you.

I am at your service.
